What is FEN, in one paragraph

FEN (Forsyth–Edwards Notation) is the universal one-line text format for a chess position: piece placement, side to move, castling rights. Every serious chess tool accepts it. Once you have the FEN, the position travels anywhere: engines, databases, coaching sessions, forum posts.

Fixing an imperfect scan

Hard-to-read piece sets sometimes produce a wrong square or two. The built-in editor shows the original image next to the board so you can correct squares in seconds, then copy the corrected FEN.
